Lesson 6: Design Your Dream Relationship
7th House Transits: Relationship Revival

Planets transiting through the 7th House can energize marriage, commitment, and the “balance of power” in all your relationships—platonic or romantic. The 7th house is all about dynamic duos and partnerships, so transiting planets here will affect how you deal with significant others—and the kind of people you’re attracted both in business or love.
To do the exercise below, use a Natal + Transits chart from the Free Charts/Extended Chart Selection section of astro.com. You will have to create a free membership profile to utilize their awesome tools—well worth signing up for! Another option we like is running a Transits Chart at astro-seek.
Exercise:
Are any planets transiting through your 7th House? Do you currently feel their impact in your life? How can you use this transiting planet's energy for your benefit? Use the table below for reference.
Planet | Approx. Time in each Zodiac Sign | How this transiting planet may influence your life |
|---|---|---|
Sun Solar Transit | 30 days | Post that relationship status and let the whole world know who you love! This is a time for showing off your beloved or making public appearances as a pair. If you're single and looking, your radiance could attract a keeper. If you think you've found someone of lasting value, boldly pursue! |
Moon Lunar Transit | 2.5 days | You need reassurance of commitment—are they in or are they out? Without that, you may feel unmoored while the moon transits your 7th house. Ironically, these are days where you may be uncertain about your own feelings, needing to weigh the pros and cons to make sure you've found someone who truly balances your needs. |
Mercury Transit | 3 weeks (up to 10 if retrograde) | This is an important time for dialogue with a mate or business partner. You could meet someone special through conversation, social media, or at a local event. It's a good time to “talk it out” or sign contracts, except when Mercury is retrograde. |
Venus Transit | 4-5 weeks (up to 10 if retrograde) | Love planet Venus plays Cupid when it transits this house. You’re “in love with love,” and feel especially open-hearted toward people who captivate your interest. Physical attraction and a shared aesthetic can be powerful bonding agents. Compassion, empathy and generosity are emphasized. Harmonizing Venus can help couples work out comprises, cooperation, and forming closer ties. |
Mars Transit | 8 weeks (up to 8 months if retrograde) | Relationships become spicy but also stressful. Couples may argue more, but will (hopefully) settle it with some world-class makeup sex. Divorces and breakups can be contentious—someone may want to fight just for fighting’s sake. Aggression in interpersonal relationships may increase necessitating more physical space—or a time-out and a deep breath. Pressure to commit, possibly before you’re both ready, could intensify. |
Jupiter Transit | 12-13 months | You could meet your future marriage partner on vacation, or fall in love with someone from another culture or country. Couples may opt to move or get married abroad (or have a “destination wedding,”). This is a lovely time to travel with your significant other. Jupiter rules expansion, so some longtime couples may outgrow each other, parting ways amicably or making room to explore independent interests instead of being joined at the hip. Others will reinvent their stagnant relationships by adding more adventure, perhaps moving or renewing vows. Couples who learn together “burn” together: Keep the spark hot by taking a mind-expanding class or a couple’s workshop. |
Saturn Transit | 2.5-3 years | A serious, mature energy envelops all partnerships—no commitment will be taken lightly now. You may learn important life lessons about relationships or do something very "adult" together like buying a home or starting a family. Since Saturn rules maturity, you may commit to a relationship with someone much older or much younger than you. If it's time for a break, you could go through a separation or divorce that forces you to stand on your own two feet. Adult responsibilities, such as work or caring for an aging parent, can interfere with romance and togetherness. Structures, such as weekly date nights and coordinating calendars, can help keep romance alive. |
Uranus Transit | 7 years | This disruptive transit will shake up your relationship as you know it. While this may temporarily unmoor your sense of security, excitement and erotic sparks will follow as you find your edge again! You may have a sudden desire to stir things up, be free, follow an unconventional arrangement (living separately, open relationships), be more spontaneous. May start a relationship with an eccentric type or someone who brings out the quirky side of you. Couples may engage in metaphysical practices, such as meditation or medicine ceremonies, to connect to your higher minds together. |
Neptune Transit | 15 years | This cycle can bring confusion, delusion, and a heavy dose of fantasy. You may see-saw between idealizing or demonizing a partner, feeling resentful and taken for granted one minute and putting the person on a pedestal the next. It may be necessary to make sacrifices to keep a relationship together, but there will also be a struggle to set limits and boundaries. Addictions, breakdowns, and buried emotions could disrupt the harmony of a relationship. A soulmate or kindred spirit could appear as a result of your willingness to surrender to the universe's divine plan. Relationships may become healing spaces—you could meet someone who helps you overcome an old wound. |
Pluto Transit | 12-20 years | Mirror, mirror—your partners and the people closest to you are reflecting back your best traits AND what you most need to improve. Relationships have a karmic or fated feel. May see the “shadow side” of a partner, find (or keep) secrets, or deal with a person who has addictions and obsessive tendencies. Your own obsessive, secretive or possessive side could emerge. Watch for uneven and dangerous power dynamics in relationships. Don’t get involved with people who have a less-than-spotless history of fidelity (unless you're prepared to be VERY understanding). In its highest vibration, Pluto in the 7th house could help you magnetize a love partner through intense spiritual work. Couples therapy can benefit some relationships, as unconscious patterns will reveal themselves prominently. |
