Halfway around your chart is a point called the Descendant. It sits at the 3 o'clock point on your chart—AKA the cusp, or beginning line of your 7th house—directly opposite your rising sign/Ascendant, which is at 9 o'clock. We call it your relationship "rising sign" because it can bring clues about committed relationships: What you need in a long- term partner and what kind of partnership will make you happy.  

But here's the rub: Since it's exactly opposite your Ascendant/Rising sign (which governs your initial impulses), your Descendant can hold some surprises. Perhaps what you THINK you need in a mate, isn't actually what's best for you when the rubber meets the road. This point on the chart can prove the theory that opposites attract—and searching for someone who has the qualities of your Descendant can actually bring a wonderful sense of balance and grounding into your life.
